4 Advantages of Stress




Stress is one thing that people would not choose to have if given a chance There are many reasons that can give you stress. But if you look into it, even stress has its advantages. The common causes of stress could be job, studies, health issue, relationships and the list could go on.  These said factors are occurring daily right? It means that you cannot escape stress. If you cannot escape it, then why not stay positive and focus on the advantages of stress.

Stress can make you appreciate rest 

If we are to choose between to stress or to relaxation, we will most likely choose to be relaxed. But if you just lie on your bed for a whole day, would you still be able to sleep after that? You may probably want to do something else besides resting. Something that can make you tired and want to rest again. You are now wanting to be stressed for you to rest. You see now, if you are stressed, you can appreciate the times you rest even more.

Stress helps you remember things better 

You may now be thinking something like "How can I be able to remember better if I am stressed?" or something along that line. Before we get any further, let's try some game. Let's say last week, on a Thursday night, you got hit by a truck while crossing the street which you are taking everyday on your way to home. You were hospitalized for a month. Now after ten years(assuming you did not get an amnesia), would you still remember that Thursday night you got hit? Probably yes, right? Now, would you remember what happened the day before the accident? How about the day before that? Stress helps the brain create a memory or sensation of the things that brought stress upon ourselves. I am not referring to your ability to remember things during the stress but your ability to remember the things that happened while you were stressed.

Stress prepares you for harder problems 

Problems will become tougher as we go on in our lives. Remember the first time you tried Mathematics? You were just learning how to count from one to ten and now, you are trying to solve numbers with letters and still need a scientific calculator. It was a good thing that you needed to be stressed first from little things before getting stressed straight with enormous things, right? You won't escape stress all of the time. So just accept your stress because that is a preparation for a bigger stress.

Stress helps you realize you are learning 

They say that experience is the best teacher. It is when you experience things that makes you understand or learn it much better. In those first time experiences, that is where you are most likely to commit a mistake. When things are going wrong, you get stressed. I'm not saying that you should always make a mistake. It's always better if you can do it right at the first time but if you really can't, that is where you need the experience. We discussed earlier that the if something brought you stress, you will more likely to remember it.

There you have it, one of the most seldom advantages list - The Advantages of Stress. Next time you feel like you are having a hard time being stressed, just remember these things we talked about. You will experience stress, so rather than being more stressed about stress, might as well get the most out of it.
